Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche
is the spiritual director of Kamalashila Institute. He is renownend as an outstanding scholar of his generation in the Kagyu- and Nyingma-Tradition. Rinpoche founded Nithartta Internation, a charitable organization for the preservation of endangered tibetan texts through computer based storage and scientific indexing.
Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche studied buddhist philosophy at the Karma Shri Nalanda University in Rumtek/Sikkim and after that at the Columbia University (USA) english literature and religious studies. Since 1980 he travels and teaches worldwide. For his western students he developed the Nitartha-studyprogramm, which presents the classical buddhist scholarschip and the buddhist teachings in a modern but authentic manner.
Rinpoche is renownend for his sharp intelligence, his humour and the clarity of his teachings. 1998 H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa gave him the spiritual leadership of Kamalashila Institute.
